Wheel Of Life
Wheel Of Life
Dimensions: 22 x 28 inches (framed)
Medium: graphite, watercolor, gold leaf on paper
Artist Description of Work:
In 2024, del Rivero lost her mom right after welcoming her first child, leaving her to contemplate themes of life and death. In the wake of her grieving, her aunt gifted her a book by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross called “The Wheel of Life: A Memoir of Living and Dying.” Kubler-Ross not only teaches how to die well but also offers a lesson on how to live well. In this art piece one can find actual pages from the memoir, specifically those that uplifted and spoke to the artist. While the text is not legible, at the very top one can catch a glimpse of “Nadie muere solo” which in Spanish means “no one dies alone.” The image is one of strength, resilience, power, depth, hope, peace, and solace.
