Artist Description of Work:
This portrait of a Cuban woman wearing a phrygian cap, similar to the one shown in the Cuban Coat of Arms, represents the longing for absent elements of identity, expressed by the depiction of a building from the late colonial period (1800 - 1900) now in visible decay, but painted in blue tonalities as if an echo, or a dream, blending with the portrait.
