Pleasure Dome in Xanadu

Year: 2025
Dimensions: 48 x 36
Medium: Oil on Canvas

Artist Description of Work:
Inspired by Coleridge’s “Kubla Khan,” this work explores the longing to arrive—and remain—within the fleeting nature of paradise. The pleasure dome embodies our urge to freeze moments of joy, blurring the line between dream and delusion. It is an ideal refuge, precariously balanced between fantasy and reality, where beauty is built, ideas are tested, and suffering is held at bay. Here, perfect lines and the glow of neon invite the viewer in, even as subtle undercurrents of impermanence quietly unsettle. This piece is a meditation on what we seek, what we build, and what we lose in the pursuit of paradise.
