Artist Description of Work:
"Havana-El Loco" was inspired by a trip to Havana, Cuba in 2018. During my stay in the heart of old Havana, I was greeted every day with a morning performance ritual by this animated individual. Here, a theatrical moment, the gesturing and facial expression, is captured on canvas. The dilapidated shop in the background with it's scant merchandise reflects a long gone era of plenty. On the side of the shop, the two seated men seemed to be engaged in their daily routine while two shoppers patronize the store. This painting is part of my portrait series.
