Collection: Val Chan

Val Chan is a mixed media artist whose work is marked by whimsy, bright color, and a playful interest in everyday subjects. Working predominantly with acrylic paint, she builds her pieces through layers of paint, collage, and mark making.

Over the past 11 years, Chan’s family has relocated from New York City to Charlotte, to Santa Monica, and now to Miami. She earned a B.S. in Mathematics and an M.Phil. in Statistics, later leaving a corporate career and work teaching statistics to raise her boys before turning to art.

Her favorite subjects reflect diligence, curiosity, humor, and simple everyday pleasures. Her work has included the Animaux series for the Charlotte Arts and Science Council Community Supported Art Program, Japanese Fan Art at the Beverly Hills Art Show, and the Kaiju Collection at The Gallery of Hermosa. She is currently developing Nothing but Chickens for Spectrum Miami 2026.
