Collection: Maria T Ason

Maria T Ason is an artist whose scanographic collages merge identity nature and presence. Born in Santurce Puerto Rico to Cuban parents she earned a BFA in Printmaking and Graphic Design from the University of Hartford and works in Miami. Her journey from printmaking to scanning began with a desire to capture objects and forms in new ways. She scans faces hands and organic materials then layers or leaves images raw to explore memory and material. Her work has appeared in Japan, Italy and Brazil, and she is certified by the Museum of the Americas. She is preparing a new series for an upcoming exhibition in Puerto Rico. Collectors appreciate her collages for their connection between material memory and meaning.
