Allen Penniman is a Miami-based artist whose figurative work blends surreal, abstract, and realistic elements. He is recognized for the striking intensity and play within his subjects.
Growing up in Maine, Penniman discovered a love for drawing early on. In adulthood, he set art aside to work at sea, first as a commercial fisherman between Maine and Alaska, then in the yachting industry, while traveling extensively. During COVID, his artistic drive resurfaced, and in May 2023 he moved to Miami to pursue that path fully.
Penniman paints from experience, using his work to explore the ephemeral nature of the human condition. Since relocating, he has completed his introductory Evanescent Series, participated in multiple group exhibitions, and is currently developing a new body of work, Drive-In.
