This Saturday, Feb 7 | Casual Conversation with Eduardo R. Lacayo

This Saturday, ARRAE is hosting a Casual Conversation with Eduardo R. Lacayo from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Stop by to meet him, see the work in person, and talk about process. Eduardo will be sharing how memory, nature, and lived experience shape his paintings, and how he builds images through warm color, surreal shifts, and layered texture. We will have light beverages available.

Eduardo R. Lacayo is a painter whose work reads like a visual diary, rooted in transformation, belonging, and place. Born in Managua (1969) and raised across Nicaragua, Mexico, and Miami, his multicultural upbringing sits at the center of his voice. He studied Architecture at Miami Dade College before earning a BFA and M.S. in Art Education from Florida International University, followed by an Ed.S. from NOVA Southeastern University.

Outside the studio, Eduardo is deeply invested in arts education and public-facing creative work. He is an art educator at MAST Academy and President of the Dade Art Educators Association, where he supports community engagement and public art projects. That commitment shows up in his practice too. His paintings invite a slower kind of looking, the kind where you notice how an image holds feeling, history, and intuition all at once.

If you have ever wondered how a painting begins, how a palette gets chosen, or how an artist knows when a piece is finished, this is the afternoon for that. These conversations are casual on purpose. Come by, say hi, and bring questions if you have them.
