Coffee Conversations with Creators: Featuring Ernie Rodriguez

Coffee Conversations with Creators: Featuring Ernie Rodriguez

Next Saturday, August 16th, join us for our next Coffee Conversations with Creators featuring Miami-born collage artist Ernie Rodriguez. From 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, Ernie will be in the gallery to share insight into his creative process, answer questions, and talk about the stories hidden in his intricate, hand-cut works. Guests will also have the opportunity to explore the full collection while enjoying complimentary coffee.

Ernie Rodriguez is a Miami-born collage artist whose hand-cut compositions from vintage print media explore narrative, memory, and natural forms through a meticulous analog process. A lifelong traveler, he draws inspiration from urban scenes, flora, fauna, and the printed matter of a bygone era. Working exclusively with mid-century magazines, Rodriguez cuts and arranges each element by hand so that aged paper, faded inks, and weathered surfaces guide the work’s emotional tone. Recurring subjects such as birds, fish, and insects reveal layered meaning in his storytelling collages. His practice reflects a deep appreciation for overlooked materials and forgotten aesthetics. Collectors are drawn to his work for its tactile honesty and the unexpected narratives tucked within the details.
